Thanks to Norfolk Botanical Gardens, DGIF, WVEC, CCB, Nuckols Tree Service, and Wildlife Center of Virginia for removing the eaglets after the tragic death of Mom yesterday.
The eaglets are being transported to Wildlife Center of Virginia where an artificial nest has been built in the 200 foot long flight pen. This nest is closed off from much of the pen but the eaglets will be able to see other eagles interacting from their new nest. The eaglets will be raised together.
While recognizing how hard this seems I do believe it to be in the best interest of the eaglets. They will be raised to an age where they can take care of themselves and then fly free as they are intended, left for only Dad to care for them they might not have made it. We know with a high degree of certainty they will live to fly now.
Thank you all
