  • what do you edit and render with? the footage looks nice, best quality ive seen with the hmc150

  • @EricPiencka : I use FCP studio 6.5 this file was a QT file and I used h264. The file is highest quality export setting using QT compression options.

  • @BlueVoyageTV Is it a physical non-match, meaning will adobe Premier Pro not be able to edit a clip from each camera in a file together? Or is it more about 2 different looks, color, etc? Just wondering exactly what will make me pull my hair out.

  • @TimeAxisMedia : 5d and 7d have a different look. That's why they are so popular with indy film makers. Panasonic has a unique color hard to match. You are dealing with very different elements here, 35mm full frame chip vs 1/3 ccd chip. Consumer HDV codec based on old mpeg2 vs consumer but modern AVCHD based on h.264. I don't think you will have a hard time matching them.

  • Hi, I'm going to rent this camera for an indie feature. How filmic can it be? How does it compare to the Canon still cameras (D5, D7)? And if I shoot with both the Panasonic the Canon, will the footage match up in post?

  • @TimeAxisMedia And their video will NOT match. You might end up pulling your hair in postproduction. Canon has great video. HMC150 has sound. Canon has rolling shutter problems, Panasonic has only 24mbs....

  • @TimeAxisMedia Canon 5D has a 35mm chip. Canon 7D also has a large single chip and they will provide a very film like look. You can select variety of lenses that will change the look of your film. Very short depth of field is the reason why many film makers choose Canon HDSLRs. This camera is a video camera and it is a very good alternative to Panasonic hpx170. It is good for budget documentaries and event filming, web videos and corporate communications. AVCHD codec is BETTER than Canon's HDV

  • @BlueVoyageTV Wow you are so right. I just checked out the 160 & 130. I was also hoping for more zoom and with the 21X, I'm gigglin' with anticipation. Thanks for the heads up!
