@dcfreak23 as a violist, i've performed this many times as well, and I am well aware of the range of the cello.

@zoepatrick1 Well, you're perfectly right. Because nobody entirely knows much about the original. The most accepted story I've heard is that it's a Casadesus piece that he labeled as JC Bach to give it popularity (what a bugger :D, he did the same thing with Handel's name, if I remember). It is also generally thought it was originally written for Viola, but nobody really knows about that either :D

@mamp71 It's not actually Bach. It's Casadesus lol

@calebcoker This is most definitely a cello concerto. It was originally written for the cello, and as a cellist, I have performed this countless times. Yes, for those who are not familiar with the extreme range of the cello it can sound like a viola is playing at times, but it is just the cello way up in thumb position. For further verication, you can search for "Daniil Shafran" on wikipedia. He is a famous Russian cellist.

This is a Viola Concerto composed by Henri Casadesus, passed off as JC Bach. Henri did the same thing with the "Handel" Viola Concerto in b minor. Obviously, this is the cello transcription.

this is a viola concerto. not a cello concerto.
they are two different players, each one holds something marvelous in their playing
