I remember watching Truth or Consequences with Bob Barker as well - it just seemed to be the thing to do after dinner and homework..

May 27, 1994 was a right after the anouncement that ch 8 was switching to FOX.

Phil Donahue was still an Ohio institution in '71, doing his show every day live from Dayton. We had no idea Bob Barker would be on TV for 35 years on The Price Is Right.

@WitzlawTN Thanks a bunch for sharing that tidbit. TV seemed much simpler and carefree back in the olden days.

The music used in this piece is on the SoftTempoLounge channel. Look for the title "Pink Balloon," by Horst Jankowski. Album is "Black Forest Explosion" (1968). No I don't think YT will let me point to it directly. --SJR

I miss TV and radio from the 1960s and 70s. Most of what is on now is just garbage

It would be nice if someone had some old reels of CCN with Marty and Murray and Dick doing the news. 1970-73. I'd pay an arm and a leg for a copy of it.

@audiophile55 I lived south of Cleveland at that time and remember that too. I also remember Goddard doing the wather report on April 3, 1974 during the super tornado outbreak of that day - he showed footage of vehicles trying to outran the F5 tornado in Xenia that afternoon.

No, that was not Jeff Maynor, that was the late Joe Grant v/o the "Get it All and Then Some" Promo!
OK so Mer V Griffin used to come on Ch 8...I only remember when it came on Ch 5 in the afternoons after the soaps went off. *pre Oprah*...the music is cute...I dont' remember it...I DO however remember the old City Camera shows with McArthur Park as the theme.
Now refresh my memory please, was Dave Buckel also the host of the show Public Square? I remember the theme song was Weschester Lady by Bob James.

IIRC, Merv Griffin moved from Ch 8 to 5 and back at least once or twice during his syndicated run in the 70s/80s. I think he was on 8 mostly in the 70's, though.
