Mysterious Cities of Gold - Extended Opening

Tim Skutt sold "fan' DVD copies of MCOG in English for many years as until 2008 there was no official DVD relase ever. For many, this was their only way to own this series on DVD. I guess this opening was used on his "fan" DVD sets. The official DVD uses a shorter version of this. People like him and others are needed. They make sure old cartoons get their day in the sun again and to remind people how good the old shows really were. I own a "fan" DVD set in English of Belle & Sebastian.

I knew this guy (Skutt) as a Bulletin Board System regular back in the 90s. Recently somebody started a BBS group on Facebook for the old area code, and we chatted a bit. I noticed Cities of Gold in his favorites, and was like, "wow, man, you like Cities of Gold?!" and he was like, "'like' is an understatement." Apparently he is responsible for raising the initial interest in bringing it to DVD and has met all the principle voice actors and so on. Really neat!

Interesting experiment... and nice touch using some of the Japanese Intro footage:) But could you please upload this in its proper 4:3 aspect ratio? It's really jarring to see the image stretched so much...

i was too young to understand the storylines of this show.. i used to watch the opening though since i loved the song, then i'd change the channel.. wish i had watched it properly now
still remember the words now!

Such a rare cartoon back then, no one ever relates to me when I'm like 'this was my favorite show ever as a kid!" And of course, the anime craze hadn't begun yet, I just knew that it was GOOD.
