they look peaceful
-
Coconut crabs (Birgus latro) start to live naked ( without shell ) when they reach the size around 1cm (10mm - or approximately about the size of small land hermit crabs ) and the exoskeleton on the abdomen surface has been hardened ( around 2 years old )

you sure they are small coconut crabs?...I look like Coenobita Brevimanus:The top is thick and short tongs on the way in which the hermit crab walks, walking leans toward the heavy tongs...The coconut crab has more elongated than the pincer...belonging to these particulars, the coconut crab and Coenobita brevimanus are equal

Yes, I believe the proper identification of this hermit crab has been established already. Thank you.

This is for sure a fully grown Coenobita brevimanus ( Asian/Indonesian Purple Pincer land hermit crab ) not a juvenile Birgus latro ( Coconut crab ).
