100-140mph Subaru Forester XT Bonneville Speedway Salt Flats

This was a test to be sure the 4EAT TCU (transmission control unit) didn't put a speed limiter on my car before I entered to attempt to join the 130mph club on the Salt Flats at Bonneville Raceway. Video was taken near Bonneville Speedway in Utah. 2005 Subaru Forester XT 4EAT with Cobb AP v2 (VF39 4EAT 91octane map), VF39 turbo from STI, STI TMIC, STI Catless Uppipe, Cobb CATTED downpipe, STI Catback Exhaust. Vehicle otherwise stock.

How did you remove the speed limiter of your 4-at, I have the SH model XT and the top speed is 220 km/h on the dash, don't know the real by GPS , but this at only 4800 revs. I want more :-)

@bubarusubaro The only thing I did was flash a new map onto the ENGINE computer (ECU) which doesn't do anything to the TCU on the Transmission. So on my car there was no limiter on the trasmission, the limit was only in the ECU and removed by updating the map with the Cobb Accessport.

where did you get an accessport map for a vf-39 with the 4eat? on cobbs website they only offer a vf-39 map for the 5 speed foresters :( and how is the 4eat holding up?

@nova123 You can find STI cat backs in your local classifieds if you keep your eyes open because so many STI owners go to aftermarket 3" exhaust.

@didjamatic where did u buy ur cat back from? becuz i plan to buy a cat back for my xt too and ive found stromung. same thing too but very loud but still aggressive and not too flashy but big enough to be noticed

@nova123 At over 100MPH you typically hear road noise and wind far more than the engine unless your exhaust is really loud. I'm running STI OEM cat back exhaust which to me is perfect because it's aggressive but not overly loud.

I read the 4EAT transmission has a speed limiter in addition to the limiter set in the ECU but that is not true, at least on a 2005. I used a Cobb Accessport to flash an off the shelf map from their site which removed the ECU limiter. This video was my test to be sure the 4EAT did not have a limit on it before attempting the 130mph club at the Salt Flats at Bonneville Speedway. I didn't want to pay the admission fee if I had a limiter that would stop me before 130mph.
