This video is my exploration of the limits of self-portraiture. A digital copy of myself gives me the opportunity to see myself objectively, but then I wondered if my clone might like the same opportunity. Naturally, my two clones are mutually attracted and repulsed by one another--this seductive oneness is too disturbing for the clones to actually act upon, though it seems appealing. I gaze into my computer screen and see myself doubled, Narcissus' reflection gazing at a bad cloning experiment. The setting for this communion between my doubles/myself also has a pool of water. This sounds a lot like a classic story of vanity and unfulfilled desire.
