How to Make a Squared Cup? - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats.
Our next shape would be a squared cup. Sometimes it is good to mix up your own cups. Change up the shape, squares, triangles, things like that. So we will center up our clay. Use the knuckle pull. Bring that clay up. Until it is a cylinder. Take out any moisture. Trim off some excess clay. Get rid of our throwing lines. Now you have got a couple of options for squaring your cup. And I am going to show you both on the same one.
So one way, we will take a back end of a wooden knife. You can also use the tip of a wooden rib. You just want to be careful not to use a very sharp one. You want one a little bit more dull. And what we will do is we will just start from the bottom inside, push up. And we will do this for a square in four. If you want to do a triangle you can do three. Pentagon, octagon. Square cup. And then if you want you can always come back, condense this rim back into a circle.
It is going to add a little bit more dimension to your cup. And the circled rim is a little bit nice to drink out of. So there is not any funny corners. The other way we can square this up even more, if we wanted to make actually the base square as well. We can take a board, line it up, knock it in. Knock it in. Knock it in. That, that is going to square up our base around here. And I am going to fix that, come back. And the rounding the rim is not necessary, but sometimes nice. And a square cup.
That was cool thanks.
