@Racecarwrecks in wrecks like that the simple act of turning isnt always as easy as it sounds.

#88 shoudl've turned. If his car had a steering wheel. Which, since it's ARCA, it probably didn't. This one is tragic.

@budkbelozzz The flame that the no common sense fireman was spraying was where the gas ran down the track.
It was two feet wide or so and went all the way up the banking to the car.
He was forty feet (give or take) away from the driver spraying a two or three feet wide flame, nothing like going into a burning house where you have to fight the fire as you get to it.
If I remember correctly when the rest of the firemen got there they aimed straight for the driver but precious time had passed.
I was driving an enduro car car at Caraway Speedway the same night this happened. A fuel cell got ruptured that night and caught on fire. The guys at the track took a 59 ford fire truck jumped out with shorts on and put the fire out like it was nothing. What you don't see in this clip is that the fireman started spraying the fire at the bottom of the track while Gary was burning at the top. I guess he was trained that way (no common sense). When I saw the clip I was screaming spray the driver!!!!
