It's a little dodgy in places, but here's my rendition of the 'Trumpet Hornpipe' (also known as the theme tune from Captain Pugwash) played on a 1960's 'Royal Artist' reed organ.

  • Bontempi? Trouble was, they had plastic reeds...

  • @cruddiestcrudever It appears to be an electric chord organ. These were tremendously popular in the late 50s, 60s and 70s and were made by a lot of big companies. This happens to be a very nice example. Many were manufactured as childrens instruments or to teach a beginner simple songs. There are a ton of variations though.

  • I'm not a fan of this style reed (chord) organ.

    Traditional reed organs sound cleaner.

  • What an odd instrument, its just a big accordion. Sounds ok though.

  • very nice! i'm trying to learn this on the accordion. can you tell me what chords you are playing with the left hand?

    thanks

  • we have the same phone!
