UK to Mongolia (10000 'ish miles ) in a 10 year old 993cc Suzuki Swift, part 2 starts with us detained for 24hrs on the Mongolian Border in the Altai mountains, and ends about a week later in Ulaan Baatar after a trek across the Ghobi....sometimes in the right direction.
