Transdimensional flight, dancing on the event horizon, reflecting in spheres ripples.

Lucy's View of "Outer" Space

The SOTW freeverse:

Help Us
Help Me ....
Oh No
Ahhhhh

And here we sit immerged in a liquid sea of love
Shimmering rainbows in silver sky above a looking-glass that reflects a past
Tide with seaweed all around
Like willows
Upside down
You caress my heart
Caress my soul
Surround my limbs
You laugh?
You'll laugh and hold my body fast

And we wake up and sit here thinking
Thinking about the times we used to have
And know they're gone forever
We'll never learn,
Never learn

Help Me
Somebody Help Him

  • The last line of this brilliant, the simple line "Mama, I'm Cold". Why? We of that generation had a hugely loved book and a book i list as among the 10 best books i have read in my lifetime--that book being Joseph Heller's Classic "Catch-22" and Heller tied that book together with periodic flashes of character Snowden saying "I'm Cold".At the end of the book there is horror scene where one learns WHY Snowden was saying "I'm Cold"--i have no doubt that is why Fudge end with "Mama, I'm Cold"

  • @TheyKnowNoShame That is a very good argument. Further evidence comes from the poem VF presents inside the song. "Help me" & "Help Him" . Although the freeverse is really about the disease of alcoholism, according to Shadow Morton, it seems these also are tributes to Heller.

  • FANTASTIC! Thank you for putting this up! I have it on LP and haven't gotten around to converting it. Like the comment about the old man sharing it. I did the same when it came out. It was one of my 3 sons' favorites... Sent my sons the link. Even though the graphics don't fit perfectly, I liked them. So will my sons. Thanks for the 720p quality too...

  • @dmcameraman You're welcome. I put all my LPs on CD about 7 years ago. I like the sound of the LPS on CD better than the reissued CDs, something about more background noise, less HOTness and more dynamics that makes it sound preferable. Make sure you use good software for the conversion - it makes a big difference I found.

  • Superb clip but can't see what outer space has to do with the lyrics. The song, of course is pschedelic masterpiece.

  • @utz14 Its not so much outer space (other than the patterns/psychedelic nature of galaxy formations). Its more the plots, themes and psychological perspectives from the films of the protagonists and antagonists. (Solaris, Sphere, Event Horizon) The Fudge version is more 'self' oriented than Donovan's - bad trip/"window"=pain?. Who nose.

  • I absolutely love Vanilla Fudge, I may be a young groovy gal, but I know fabulous music when I hear it. B ythe way, this is the most terrifying song, (especially the part when he screams out for God), I have ever heard, yet I listen to it persistently; what an underrated band. I perfer this version much more than Donovan's although I love Donovan as well, so underrated as well.

  • I haven't heard this version for forty years! Thank you so much for posting this fabulous cut. Can you please tell me which album it can be found on? It's about 45 seconds longer than the Rennaisance version.

  • thank you for posting this!!! the music is freakin' awesome!!! never heard of vanilla fudge untill i did some research on musical subgenres but i start to like them... i was into the doors and lou reed some 10-15 years ago but then drifted away into more upbeat alternative stuff... and very nice imagery!!! event horizon is one of my all time favourite claustrophobia-space-shockers (besides dark side of the moon)...

  • A couple of words ... Just GREAT !!!

The music industry is shit, it used to provide what was on demand but due to marketing the music industry now creates the demand before and while meeting it. This creates the paradox, the music industry continues to grow in size and profit while contempory music becomes more bland, when the music becomes bland people's taste soon becomes bland and it becomes easier to predict and manipulate. It reminds of the beer industry, get everyone used to shit and shit becomes easier to sell.

  • Saw the Vanilla Fudge at the Hollywood Bowl in 1968, they were one of the opening acts for Jimmy Hendrix. There used to be a rectangular flower pool right in front of the stage, wasn't long before many of the ' free spirits ' jumped into this pool. Soap bubbles filled with pot smoke were floating everywhere.

    Man, those were the days.
