Its that time of the year again and this is my third year that I have attended the Warley Model Railway Exhibition event is held every year at the Birmingham NEC which is in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This year the event was hosted on the 21st and 22nd of November 2009 and all footage in this video was filmed on the 21/11/2009 as I attended on the Saturday. This video has been split into three parts due to the 10 minute limit and there is NO audio to accompany the images of the new releases that I took at the event. I have chosen not to use music for copyright and legal reasons, but there is original sound present with the video clips and some model trains have DCC sound fitted in them. There is a very impressive Dutch Modern Image N-Gauge Model Layout in this part of the three part video which has to be one of the best N gauge Continental Model Layouts that I have seen at any events that I have attended in the past. One of the layout operators that I was speaking to while filming the trains in action informed me that the NS1800 locomotive operated by NS in Holland is made by Minitrix and not by Fleischmann as I thought. Fleischmann make the NS1600 locomotive which looks very similar to the NS1800 locomotive. There is also a very impressive N gauge layout by M G Sharp that are based in Sheffield which is made up of Kato Unitrack and the rolling stock used is in the shape of the RENFE S-100 "Euromed" and several Japanese rolling stock like the Super Hitachi tilting unit, Series Kiha 261 "Super-Soya" Express and the JRF EH500 Freight Electric Locomotive. The images shown in this video are most those that are newly released models and some older releases by Hornby, Bachmann, ViTrains and Dapol which features their new Class 153 in N gauge although I think the asking price of £105 for a single car DMU is a bit of a joke, but I guess the detail makes up for it though on a good note. Also at the Dapol stand, there was a pre-production model of their new Class 58 which will bring another new locomotive to the N gauge range. The new Hornby Class 395 in OO gauge is also present as it is seen in action on the large layout at the Hornby stand. But sadly there is no sign of the Mark III DVT (the official name should actually be DLV), but this is scheduled to be released in December next month along with the EWS Management Train which is a train pack. There is a new release from Bachmann as well in the shape of the 4CEP EMU model that was running around on their OO gauge layout along with the Class 150 that comes in the Bachmann Dynamis DCC set which was in British Rail Provincial livery.

  • couple of questions i was thinking of going but i live ins Scotland about 250 miles away from the NEC and it would be about £60 there and back for me and my grandad (im only 14 cant go on my own lol) is it worth it ? or should i just not bother ? thanks for any help :)

  • @roscowhitey: Warley MRE is a very good event in most years except for 2007 when it was smaller than in most years. The 2008 and 2009 events were good as well, but I didn't go last year as I was ill. But I am going to this year's event in November and I would certainly recommended going. Depending on which Airport you are nearest to, you could get a cheap return flight to Birmingham International as the NEC is right next door to the Airport.

  • good show! is it on every year? thanks i'l check the other vids now:D

  • @AUTubeN22: Hi mate, yes its an annual show held at Birmingham NEC every November (usually the third week) as its the biggest exhibition in the UK. I am going there this year as I didn't go to the event last year.

  • ive always loved trains

  • @SuperCritter1: Thats cool to hear mate. Do you have any particular favourites?

  • @roscowhitey actually its the Birmingham warley exibition like ews said at the nec sorry got confused! its on Nov 19/20 its £11.50 at the door or £10 with tickets £8 parking. but as you say, its a great show. not just for enthusiasts like us & its at least 100 miles closer & a much bigger exibition than essex . plus you get 8 weeks to save up! :) i'll heading for that one with my jvc cam and pocket money just in case i see the EWS class 08 DCC shunter on sale! :)p

  • @roscowhitey ok good luck! i think its the Warley exibition thats in romford in essex thats on sat Nov 12th its £4 per adult and srarts from 10.30 to 5.30 free parking if you go by car and theres going to be a trades stand and test tracks. thats all i know but theres about 18 known layouts from N to 0 gauge. so you have a good 8 weeks to save up some train fair! :)

  • @AUTubeN22 yeah im starting to think its not worth going but it does look great and well i am a railway enthuisiast so i would get the train down no other option really

  • @roscowhitey i'm sure the show is worth the journey but not so sure if air travel is any less expensive than rail! as you may have heard the latest views from the commons that rail travel is a pleasure for the rich to enjoy! obviously a coach trip would be out of the question unless you travel the night before and book a bed and breakfast. but thats not going to be cheap ether!

  • @EWS60008 ok thanks but i was probably going to get a cross country or virgin train there its quiet cheap
