Part three of Emmy nominated documentary produced and directed by Anthea Raymond and Beverly Jones. North of famous Venice Beach, Ocean Park, California, was also founded by Abbot Kinney. And like Venice, Ocean Park started as a place of ballrooms, amusement, piers, delicatessens, and street fairs. In the 1950s, it was home to the Lawrence Welk show. A decade later, Jim Morrison and the Doors were regulars at "The Cheetah." Today Ocean Park is central to Santa Monica's booming creative industry. That's not really a surprise since the place has long been popular with creatives, from Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford, to painter Richard Diebenkorn, Oliver Stone, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
@alexdelrio45: It looks like both -- the border is somewhere 'twixt Marine St and Rose Ave. The area they're talking about seems to be from at least as north as OP Blvd and south past Rose. I lived in SM for 30 years -- the last 10 (mid '80's to '90's) in this area. Good times. After all the money moved in, Main street got nicknamed "Rodeo Drive West."
