what does the huge "mud flap" do?

The large mud flap in the front helps to keep large clumps of mud during a mud bog run from building up in the engine bay, protecting electronics, belts, pulleys, pumps, radiator, oil cooler, etc.

@Bongwater123 Ive got $8500 in my engine, i care about it.... I also will be putting a rubber flap on the front like that... It keeps water from getting to the electrical components and stops the motor from ingesting water.... My entirer engine bay will be "sealed"
