ARETHA FRANKLIN with I CANT TURN YOU LOOSE from 1981 on the UK ARISTA RECORD LABEL perhaps not the best production she has been involved in, BUT THIS LADY CAN SING
I disagree... I feel this was one of her best productions. When Atlantic let her go, Clive Davis (who was at CBS when she was first signed) brought her to Arista.
Her long-time friend, arranger/producer Arif Mardin, did this track for her. The band was top-shelf: Jeff Porcaro, David Paich, and Steve Lukather from the group Toto, some of NYC's best horn players, Louis Johnson on bass -- and Cissy Houston's original Sweet Inspirations! Doing an Otis Redding tune, just like she did with "Respect".
One of my favorite ReRe Numbers. She let you have it off this song. Aretha Franklin can cover any song and make it the one. Drag Queens every where feel this one.
