Eric Young Jr. at-bat during an August 28 California League game between the Modesto Nuts and the Bakersfield Blaze. Young Jr. was drafted in the 30th round of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft by the Colorado Rockies out of Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Arizona. The switch-hitter was a draft-and-follow selection. The second baseman hit .291/.359/.430 with eight home runs, 63 RBIs and 73 stolen bases for the high Single-A Nuts in 2007. Young Jr. batted .295/.391/.409 and swiped 87 bases for the low Single-A Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League in 2006.
