  • @hildaatje I've seen it. I've also read Hitler's ridiculous book.

I haven't argued anything is black and white but some things are beyond equivocation: "most normal Germans weren't even Nazi's", is obviously total garbage. Choices may have been influenced, but "choice" or "acceptance" is what it remained - "most", chose or accepted Nazism. It's as simple as that.

Modern Germany is ashamed of that past and that is actually enough - there's no need at all to try and re-write History.

  • @hildaatje Kinda counterproductive to put such a song on the internet in the first place, everybody is a dick here.

  • @thebearclawjones Wrote something to sanktmikael that is ment for you too......best wishes.

  • @sanktmikael To you and your counter part in this discussion;there is a wonderful series being aired right now on Discovery Europe, and its probably available on dvd throughout the world.Apocalypse,(The rise of Hitler,March into war,etc.etc.).

Tells (in color!) a very detailed and nuanced tale of just how this horror came to be and how it unfolded. Its really not that black or white.

But what saddens me is that 2 young people argue so much, when this song clearly tries to close gaps.......

  • @sanktmikael What are you talking about?

  • @thebearclawjones Ah, damnit. Yeah, sorry, I never really had anything to back myself up with. My argument never had any validity whatsoever.

Some might call it "trolling", but I'd rather call it "saying something poorly thought-out and then not having the balls to admit being completely wrong".

  • @sanktmikael No. Unsurprisingly, you've missed the point. Which was: I emphasise *your* personal statement of opinion in order to emphasise the significance of the alternate interpretation - a simple mechanism by which to highlight to you the self-evident fact that *your* opinion is, at best, under-informed. A conclusion you only confirm with your 2nd sentence, here.

I agree: this conversation is redundant - as he who claims the Resistance "didn't do shit", very obviously, doesn't *know* shit.

  • @sanktmikael "Germany wasn't too hot"? "Tough luck"? What are you even saying?

You continue, "most weren't active Nazis"? So, "most" willingly supported the NSDAP? "Most" willingly accepted the NSDAP agenda? And most of those that did, also shut their ears and eyes as necessary, and "most" were extremely anti-semetic? Yet, "still, they weren't Nazis"?!...

What, exactly, represents a NAZI to you? Only someone in a black uniform with a Totenkopf in the hat?

    That...doesn't seem naive to you?

  • @thebearclawjones So, my opinion is my opinion? My god, all the pieces fit together... and that doesn't make my argument less valid anyways.

Yeah, I say that resistance is useless if it's useless. Maybe they shouldn't have organized a resistance movement if it didn't do shit.

This conversation is extremely redundant, by the way.
