You probably got billed from the hospital... the actual helicopter transport didn't cost anything. That is paid for with your vehicle registration

all MSP medevacs are free of charge, as a previous person said the medevacs are paid for through a fee that comes through the MVA. it doesnt cost anyone anything just to turn the rotors on. you will however, see a helicopter services fee on your bill, that comes from shock trauma itself. they bill for assisting the medic offload the pt from the helicopter.

SYSCOM medevacs are not free of charge!!!!!! Any MSP medevac that respoundes gets paid even if they do not transport anyone..... If i remember correct it is $3000 to start the rotors....

@asexystone26 you may have been flown out on a MedStar medivac, not MSP.

I dont think it is because our Asst. Chiefs son was flown to trauma and they got a pretty hefty bill but their insurance covered it
