when he was in the states, he didn't really know what JYP was. since he loved bboying and rapping back then, his mom told him to go audition even though he didnt know what for. then JYP told him that he should go to korea and get trained. so i think, he only did it for his mom. he was just being a good son. that's what he said it was asked in an interview.
