I cant say "black or white", the best or not the best...
Its really evident, Lang Lang has not a full Idea about the pieces he plays, but he has more and more Ideas during a piece, licke a mosaic.
In case of Biss, I preffer much more hes musical view and hes contact to the music.
In both cases I really dont licke the all "mimical theater"..
And In both cases I dont hear the madurity. That sound will comes... perhaps or certenly with the time.

Beethoven: "it is about the necessity to push yourself to the limit" --- how beautifully and perfectly put.

@dexterityhunter Superficiality ? just because a piece need virtuosity doesnt means that is superficial or a show off thats the beuty of beethoven, i dont argue with the fact that this performance is the best of this masterclass but lang lang's was very good too

I think Jonathan Bliss has the facility to feel the music more so than the previous guy, although there is a lack of that feeling flowing directly through his finger tips though. The old mans advice taken on board will make Jonathan be able to sit in the master chair one day though... I think he genuinely listened and took on board what he said unlike the showoff. BBC4 did themselves proud with this film, my licence fee well spent!!!

Danial Barenboim is such a wonderful man, working for peace in the Middle East, making beautiful music and also mentoring a new generation of artists.

@brassmonkeyjew shut up you... you ... arrgh I cant tell something more offensive than "JB" fan =/
Jonathan Biss with the final movement of opus 109 certainly is the climax of this masterclass. Never understood this dispute on who is the greatest pianist of all as there are so many different yet fascinating approaches to piano playing. But as far as this class is concerned, I would rather prefer Jonathan Biss' philosophical and communicative playing to Lang Lang's superficiality and showmanship.
