Screw the safety glasses ...Never never NEVER wear gloves while operating rotary tools or machinery! You catch the tip of your finger on that you'll get a boo-boo .. you catch the tip of your glove in their and it'll pull your hand in and make one HELL of a mess!! You NEED those jazz-hands edarem!

Note that he's doing that in short passes. Never just grind and grind and grind or you'll overheat the metal and possibly ruin the temper. It's generally recommended that people not use grinders to sharpen tools for that reason.

I prefer a stone and a strop myself.

Never lay a grinder with the grinder head facing down. Thats how you get a 10'' slit in your stomach or something.
