Traces of natural gas discovered in Isiolo

It will take at least 5 more months for Kenya to know whether it will join the worlds elite group of oil producing nations. Energy Permanent Secretary, Patrick Nyoike says the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has requested for a 5 months extension of its oil exploration project in Isiolo. This comes in the wake of the discovery of traces of natural gas in the Bhogal 1 exploratory well, whose drilling begun in October last year.

Kenya has done so much with so little. If oil is found and corruption is kept at a minimum, then the economy will be a whole lot better. But I can't shake off that feeling of what happened in Nigeria. Scary.

It's fantastic news for Kenya if oil is found. The Government will get about 80% of the revenue from the sales. Kenya currently has to import lots of oil as it consumes about 250 million litres a day. Who do you think is paying for that.

my brother we have nothing to celebrate about..we will never see a cent of that oil and gas money we are going to end up like the ogoni of the niger delta..poor, alienated, loss of land and worst of all our ecosystem, environment and way of life will be destroyed while the jarer will be swimming in money in nairobi!!
