Outdated: While the drum pedal mod will still work, for whatever reason the magnetic switches are working backwards from when I built mine. You may need to use an normally open switch as I have gotten in recent reports, instead of a normally closed switch which I used to use to make my pedals a year ago.

Many people on youtube have this innate ability to play Rock Band. What most people don't know is that, specifically for the drummers, they use custom equipment like drum heads, and most importantly, the drum pedal itself. By making your own drum pedal, you not only have a foolproof pedal that will not break on you, but you also have an extremely responsive pedal too.

There are many GOOD drummers out there, but they don't know how effective a real drum pedal is and often stick with their stock pedal (if it already hasn't broken). But really, by using a real one you would be amazed how much your score will be boosted.

This video is here to show you how to make your own REAL drum pedal. It's not the best, and I often stutter, but HEY! I think you can get the point of it, and if you have anyway questions that are not in the FAQ feel free to message me.

Note: I bought all my equipment axe the drum pedal off of ebay, but due to the limited quantity sellers on ebay you will have to do your own searching for the REALLY cheap switches and cables. But here are the retail parts for it:

  • p 902 pedal, if im correct?

  • @ThelMPact Yeah - doesn't really matter the pedal though. It was the same one omega pedal used.

  • so if this is outdated - where's the newer video? didn't find anything in your uploads

  • @sh4dow83 It's just outdated because there have been better mods that involve modding an electric kick pad to your rock band set instead of the actual pedal like I did here.

I personally never bothered to mod an electric kick pad because I don't have the money and just went straight to rigging an electric set to my system.

  • @RoganSarine i see... and electric kick pad is rather expensive indeed though. so what do you mean by rigging an electric set? you mean a whole real electric drum kit? and when buying a set like that, the kick pad is cheaper?

  • @sh4dow83 I just meant I had an electric set around my house that I modded to work with rock band. It's by no means cheaper, but this method can sometimes get really awkward to use because the sensor activates before the pedal would normally strike the pad if you don't place the sensors in the perfect spot.

  • I've had my pedal for bout 2 years now and pounded the shit out of it and it is still in perfect condition

  • Uh, not particularly, I havn't used stock anything for years, heh.

I never opened up the pedal, but I know the reed switch had a very low range sensitivity, so... it could have become dislodged in the pedal somehow.

  • my pedal didnt break in half it just isnt responding anymore when i push it. any idea if i got to do to fix it? or how i broke???
