This is nothing like the 717, the 135 only hold around 35 people while the 717 holds well over 100 people. When Midwest had their 717s, with business class seats in the entire plane they were able to seat 99.
E135 only has one flight attendant while the 717-200 on most airlines has 3. Midex had two but that's because they only had 99 seats.
Not hating on the 135 but the 717 is by far different

When I lived in Zambia, I sometimes flew with South African Airlink's E135 between Johannesburg and Ndola (2 1/2 hour flight). But I chose to fly InterAir with their B727-200/100's. Now SAA BAe-146's on the route...

Having extensively flown on both types, I would have to say that the Embraer is NOTHING like the 717... That is like saying the 747 is like the A380. Just my opinion though.
