lol... nice freeze :D The first flash mob was organized by Bill Wasik in New York. I'm not sure about the first flash freeze, one of the better known ones is one organived by Improv Everywhere in NYC's Grand Central station. As for the reason... I dunno, I think people like absurdity and the break it brings from everyday life. Some flash mobs have been used to make political statements and some have been used to promote products, most are just an excuse for the absurd though :D
