The barn swallows finally hatched in the nest above our front door. I think there are five babies. You can tell from the video that both parents take part in the feeding. They also keep the nest clean by removing the babies' fecal sacs (sounds fun, doesn't it?). It looks like whoever has the longest neck wins. You can see more videos like this on www.WildlifeTheater.com. Enjoy!

  • They aren't attacking...they're dining on the insects you're kicking up from the lawn. They're partying at the lawn buffet!

  • My dad found a nest that was almost all the way tipped over and had only one little swallow in it! We took it inside and got a small box and put hay in it. We made the box dark, it liked it WAY better! It wouldn't eat bird formula even when it would open it's mouth to say it was hungry! My mom suggested Silk Milk in an eye dropper. We tried it and this works so well! But now we grind the food and make it easier to eat.

    These are beautiful animals! :)

  • Red-winged blackbird? Not even close. Barn swallow.

  • omg they look JUST like mine look at my videos!

  • When I was a kid there was a pair that always had a nest in one of our birdhouses. One day I made the mistake of trying to peek in at the babies and the parents began dive bombing my head. I didnt make that mistake again. They are beautiful little birds.
