is the way Yiddish is written in English spelling these days. Of course we would all know better if so many Yiddish-speaking people hadn't died all of a sudden.

Actually, no. The song was written by an Ukrainian-American Jew in New York. And yes, it was written in Yiddish. It was latter translated to English by another American Jew of the same origin, but retained its Yiddish name.

Yet more proof that swing music had an international appeal.
The Swedish version, and of course the American version, retained the main lyric in the original Yiddish - which this Polish version doesn't.

In the info under the video - enough to click - there is written the name of the singer:
Mieczyslaw Fogg (not Aston !).
