Barack Obama ran an unprecedented Presidential campaign - utilizing the power of design to help secure the seat of the President of the United States of America. However, his iconic emblem, the ever present "O", holds more power than even Obama knows. Bill Whittle points out the dangers of branding an ideology with an icon and how, perhaps, the powerful symbol will be used against the very man it built up. - http://www.pjtv.com

Well yes, from a technical point of view it may very well make sense, but Whittle's basic contention stands. WHY is the "O" at the center in the first place? WHY is that particular emblem the "center point" anyway? WHY are the traditional American Icons being superceded by it? I think he's right. I think it is a deliberate branding of an individual, and Im not sure that is the way we should be going.

Well I believe I can explain the poster... I've been experimenting with graphic design and many tutorials tell you to have the area you want to be the center piece of the picture focused and to kind of blur out the rest. So with the "O" being his logo it makes sense the other areas in the poster would be blurred out like that. The blur highlights the center point of the picture.

THE LOGO: The "blues" over an empty plate hovering over three rivers of blood.

He didn't say it was unprecedented. As you said, the Nazis and Communists did the same thing. He did say, and I do agree that it is unprecedented in the United States of America. The logo always goes away after the campaign, but not with Barack Obama.

But, it's not unprecedented, Bill. Both the Nazis and Communists of what would become the USSR did the exact same thing.
