A documentary about...well, myself, for my documentary class.
I had all semester to do this project, and the direction I was taking it didn't work out in the end. With a week left of semester, I decided to start over. This is what I came up with.
I know its atypical to wear shorts during fencing...but for the sake of the audience being able to follow the action, I wore them to stand out. I had quite a few bruises to show for it!
A big thanks to my friends Robert, Brian, and Jim for helping me with the camera work, and to Bruce Sikes for all his help!
Damn, this is so well done!

@robertbrucesikes Hope your student gets a decent set of knickers before you decide she's ready for epee! :)

Our art is getting so rare these days that it's good to see anyone putting up any kind of information that makes it look appealing. Good documentary.

Try relaxing your shoulder and locking up your elbow. I think you'll be able to hold a central line better but hey what the hell do I know? :)

You capture your feeling very well here and especially that „right now I feel like a knight really nails it in my opinion.
The images suit the introduction very well and the cutting work in general is done well. But although you are fencing foil it really scares me seeing you going on the piste with SHORTS! Some long sports trousers would do better in terms of safety.

That was awesome! I really enjoyed this and it captured the mood. You are a knight. Congrats!

Showbiz, schmowbiz... there's no way my coach would let me get near a strip without long pants. And honestly, the bruises I get WITH knickers are enough to keep me to that.
Congrats on the victory. If you want some advice, try leading your lunges with the hand, and don't "punch." The forceful way that you lunge is partly responsible for the "telegraphing."
But hey, I'm just a lowly "C", so what do I know?

"Point Quest" is a mini-documentary by my friend Alexandra Jensen a talented film student. It documents Alex's training at a club fencing tournament and features Washington University students and myself, Head Coach Bruce Sikes. The movie was shown during a film festival at a major theater in St. Louis on the big screen! Pretty cool... She is a very good story teller as you will see. Check it out!
BTW: You'll notice she's wearing shorts instead of fencing pants, but hey, that's showbiz !
