You're right...I looked it up, it is indeed a Wind World WD34. More suprisingly, these turbines still looked the same in 1999 and possibly even later. I'm guessing they have been swallowed up by Vestas or the like. It seems that some of these may even have been installed in the US, but I've never seen any. Many would likely have been replaced by now, or very near to replacement.
Thanx for the video mohrjaffa.

Yes, but it's not a very efficient design. The faster moving ones tend to be nosier, and not as efficient.
-
it works & doesn´t fail
age isn´t everything
-
That's shocking that such an old design is used in new-ishly implemented turbines.
-
they(5) are from the early 90s.
quite a gap from your estimate
-
The design and size of the whole thing just reeks 70's.
-
On what basis do you recon that age?
I agree with other posters, that thing looks like a first generation turbine. Cubicle shaped gen. housing, small nose cone, large tower diameter in relation to gen/gearbox shell. Where is this thing and who manufactured it? If I hadn't read otherwise I'd have guessed no later than say 1983 or so.

In the middle of Norway.
There´s five. Two Vestas V39 500 kW (installed 1993) & three Wind World WD34 400 kW (installed 1991). But I didn´t notice which type this mill is.
