Carl Smulders (1863-1934)
Carl Smulders was born in Maastricht, the Netherlands and was a professor at the "Conservatoire Royal de Musique" in Liège, Belgium.
In 1891, he was awarded the Grand Prix de Rome for his cantata Andromède.
Smulders was a highly respected teacher, pianist, composer and choir-director, but after his death his name faded quickly from memory.
