The taut line is an essential camping knot. Use it to tie your guy line on your rain fly or dinner fly.

  • Is it a good idea to use this knot at both ends of the line - the stake end and the tent loop end?

  • Good knot - a bit like a prusik around its own standing part. Have seen two variations which differ in which way the final half hitch goes but no definitive statement which is best. One looks more like a prusik than the other.

  • I prefer the clove hitch. Well made video tho

  • Is this a theme from 'Poppeye the Saylor man'?

  • THANK YOU !

  • Thanks for sharing a skill more people should know! I thought this was incorrect but turns out its just a different version that I was taught many years ago. I use this knot all the time from camping to securing things in truck beds. So useful!

  • Demonstrates a useful knot.
