November 5th - December 1st
The Concept of the show is to bring the attention of repurposed materials as an alternative substrate source to canvas and panels. It is an economic and eco-friendly solution to the contemporary predicaments artists are dealing with today.
Wood panels and canvas are the two substrates that have dominated the art world since the dark ages. So why would you want to paint on anything else?
Well canvas and panels are expensive. The cheapest canvas comes from China (slave labor and shipping), the best comes from Belgium (shipping) and
panels are made of wood and wood comes from trees.
Transport us now to the modern utopian consumer paradise of 2011. People are always looking for new stuff and abandoning the old stuff. Every trash day there is a coffee table, a chair a couple doors. Why spend money on a new canvas or panels when you can reclaim sufaces for free?
