white gas? I called a refinery and they laughed at me. White gas went out with the Model A ford.

@vention4wh The two are often confused. Nonetheless, it is never bad to be prepared. In march 2007 (I was 15) my dad had gone away for two weeks and we had no power for over four days, I live right on lake Huron and we got stormed in. We had all our friends and neighbors at our house because we had a wood stove for heat, and I had the barbecue shoveled out and my Coleman stove on the patio table. A little outdoors experience goes a long way in something like that.

Just google thermo cooker. There are a lot to choose from.
And yes, thanks for asking. I did finish paying off everything last september. I talked about it in my most recent video. Living without debt is just awesome. My usual spending is only about 30% of my take home pay now.

Is your place paid off now ??? Jan / 2011
Were do I get that special bean cooker warmer ?
Your video about the Coleman camping stoves in your condo was very good. I also live in a condo in S. Florida and I bought a propane stove in case the power goes out if (or when) we get another hurricane. I didn't buy the propane fuel tank yet. Is it safe to store the propane tank inside? The only place I could keep it is in the kitchen under the sink. I know if I wait until a storm is on the way it will be impossible to find any fuel . What do you do with them?

I've had a big plastic tote full of fuel cans since 2007. They last practically forever. I'd buy at least a 6 pack if I were you, and shove them under a bed or in a closet. Next time the power goes out you'll be glad you did.

How long will one of the butane bottles last if you are cooking on just 1 burner?

@phillip78
Ya know, I'm not sure. Guess it depends on how high the flame is. I did try cooking with it until the bottle ran out and it lasted me a bit over 2 weeks, but I'm just one guy. I cooked eggs or pancakes in the morning then fried a steak or pork chop at the end of the day.
Propane is a good solution to a short term loss of utilities but in a disaster situation you suddenly won't be able to get any more so it's not a long term solution.

Propane and natural gas are not the same. Propane is a petroleum distillate, comes from distilling oil. natural gas is mainly methane mixed with a few other things. It is the gas that comes with the oil when it is extracted.

Yes I've picked up that info a couple years ago. I'll add an annotation, warning people that I was wrong about that.
