As the Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan get underway, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute is partnering with the PBS NewsHour to provide video highlights of the nine most recent Senate confirmation hearings.

Justice Kennedy won confirmation in 1988 by a 97-0 vote, still the last nominee to ascend to the Court without a single Senator in opposition.

  • I like Kennedy, but he is really is a dull speaker here

  • Thanks for posting. Glad that Kennedy was chosen instead of Bork. On a side note, it's funny to see Justice Kennedy here because of how different he looks. I'm used to him looking as he does currently.

  • Thank you for posting this, EMKInstitute.

  • I wonder what his 'zone' is on homosexuality. Since he gave the right of sodomy to gays, does that extend to the right of marriage which may have a HUGE impact to this nation?
