It will indeed be catastrophic, but not like this. Remember that Nostradamus, that Japanese Princess predict 3 days of darkness? well, when we are in the same height of that dark rift ( with a dark hole in the middle ) all light and electric particles are attracted to that rift ( dark hole ) That Japanese Princess told that there was no electricity then ) and when the sun is back. it can be like the movie " The knowing."

We are galactic North of the celestial equator and still moving North. In Astronomy it is thought that we cross it every 33 million years or so.
