Human Powered Airplane flight test by WASA June 5th, 2010

This video is flight test of human powered airplane by WASA ( Waseda Aeronautics and Space Association) from the side. On the day, Center of gravity of this aircraft is the same as center of air pressure and it looks like it has good longitudinal stability.

I think the only thing wrong with these designs is no rest for the person peddling.There at the shaft to the prop, is there some way to design a stored energy like compressing a spring or rubber band type drive? i know that sounds kind of silly but with a type of clutch the stored energy could be released and then peddle some more?once up in the air all you have to do is ride the wind currents right?I don't know it's just a suggestion anyways but good video.
