nice guitar you got lucky. i know a dude who unboxed his new epiphone les paul only to find that it had broken headstock. sent it back and recieved another one w/ broken headstock. but, the 3rd time was the charmer lol.i personally own a korean epiphone dot which i bought new and love it. no issues with it. and, dont knock squiers, the classic vibe and standard series are well worth the money for value and playablity and you can hop them up as you go along later.

@davedoggy ... yep - i had heard about the broken headstocks as well - so far so good with my epi... i've had it for nearly a year now with 0 issues... Yeah, i think squires are okay for a beginner, but i wouldn't recommend an intermediate player purchase a squier. That is all.

@timothyga01 ... sorry - they have exclusions... for whatever reason they have these 15% off sales... they exclude anything you'd want... something else you could explore though is financing... all reputable dealers offer 0% financing... as long as you make the required minimum payment and complete the payments within 6, 12, or 18 months...

I'm picking out a guitar and need help

this is my first electric but I've played acoustic for a while

My budget is 500$ My current set up thought is Ephiphone Les Paul $300

line 6 spyder 15w $99 case: $71 Wire: $12that makes $490 so the rest I figure for strings, cleaning equipment like string cleaner.Then a little later, get effects. I was also looking at strats but can only get squier strats which are like $250 at most which gives me room for effects andmaybe a better amp so HELP

6 - hold off for now on what you can purchase later... if you go to a store and buy, but they won't budge on a free amp or a gig bag (or wire for that matter)... hold off on the case and buy a $15 guitar stand. If you're not going to any gigs you won't need a case until you travel... you also won't need string cleaner/polish for the first month or 2... hold off

i hope some of this was helpful... just remember to have FUN - it's supposed to be exciting, not daunting.

I know someone who is FANTASTIC at guitar he truly is something else and he rates high end squiers he loves Em and cherishes his he is beyond good at guitar and he loves them I dunno why :p
