Speaking as a vocal major and musical theatre performer...this is a fine song for his voice.
The piano player is playing the song extremely rugged and incorrectly. Which doesn't help. So the song doesn't sound good because of that, not the singer. Which is a shame....cuz he coulda drove this one home.

he didn't do that bad on the song at all. his range fits it well. his acting was tense and i was wondering how well he could count his beats and rests cause he was all over the place... BUT in his defense, not only was the piano player not helping, but was making this song almost impossible to stay with.
