  • can a deccoder be fitted to any analogue locomotive or does it have to be dcc ready?

  • @visvamoorthy Most analogue locomotive's yes, as well as all DCC ready loco's.

  • I agree that static can damage chips, but your decoder is in the bag, and your handling the plug without an atistatic wrist band attatched to earth so the bag as it is in your video isn;t going to help. Any static that you have is going to gain access to the chip via your fingers. I use ESU chips and have had no problem at all, and speaking as an electronics engineer, your chip has a sleeve on it so unless you touch any exposed contacts on the decoder you will be all right.

  • @MrGeordiesteam Thank you. Good to hear your hints & tips, much appreciated. kind regards.

  • do u know the sleaves that come with some dcc ready trains to fit over the decoder ,do u put them on??

  • @itgamer100 Yes, put i leave a air gap at both ends.Cheers.

  • Yes that's correct. On the box it shows "DCC ready" which means ready to be converted or to DCC as shown in the video. Cheers.
