This 1950 educational film advises children on the importance of spending time with their families. To make these events, such as family dinner, more successful, the children are assigned gender specific chores. The boys work on homework and make themselves presentable for dinner and the daughter helps finish dinner and creates an amazingly ornate centerpiece for an average night's dinner. Beyond this, the film gives very strange advice to children. For example, it encourages kids to act pleased to see their parents and to sit quietly at dinner and let their parents do the talking. This film seems to encourage kids to think of family dinner as a performance in which they play a largely silent and well behaved role. These features combine to make this film very fun to watch.
