Now in HD. Many hands have worked the gardens at Esalen over the last 40 years. This short 3 part film shows what the gardeners and farmers were up to here in 2009. One of the most beautiful and amazing places in the world on the edge of personal and ecological transformation.

Using a metal detector before throwing everything into a wood chipper would make instant compost wouldn't it? The wood chipper, not the metal detector. Black plastic cooks kudzu, but what would it do to compost?

If it works to put peels in a blender and then just pour it on the soil around the plants, why wouldn't it work to use a wood chipper to process peels and then spread it around immediately? OK, still using a machine there. I think it is faster and more efficient to pulerize it without the kudzilla

Nettles are the most often stated herb from one group of herbalists on FB. Nettle tea, I think.

Nice! I like it, and I would want to find out 2 things if I were there.
1. Why the heck are forks getting in the compost? Are there a bunch of younger kids purposely doing this? Way un-cool!
2. Is there a way to better compost without having to use the machinery? The glorified trash dump is nice, but perhaps this area needs a design to heat it up more and allow a cycling of compost breakdown (also a filtering out of problem 1).
