The Ghazal: This is one of the earliest ghazals of Faiz, included in Naqsh-e Faryadi نقشِ فریادی, published in 1941. The remaining asha'ar of the ghazal are:
اپنی تکمیل کر رہا ہُوں میں
ورنہ تُجھ سے تو مُجھ کو پیار نہیں
(apni takmeel kar rahaa hoon mein; warna tujh sey to mujh ko pyar naheen)
I am making myself complete;
otherwise I don't love you
چارۂ انتظار کون کرے؟
تیری نفرت بھی اُستوار نہیں
(chaara-e intizaar kaun karey? teri nafrat bhi ustowar naheen)
Who can try the remedy of waiting?
you are not steady even in your hatred
فیضؔ زِندہ رہیں وُہ ، ہیں تو سہی
کیا ہُوا گر وفا شعار نہیں
(Faiz zinda rahein woh, hein to sahi; kiya huwa gar wafaa shia'ar naheen?)
Faiz, may he/she live, at least he /she is there;
so what if he/she is not faithful?
