Here Sean shows the magnet ring setting on top of some supports over a glass bowl. The ball and washer spin in the bottom of the bowl (not accelerating).
Sean CLaNZeR, who is one of the most gifted replicators of the various magnet motor concepts that get floated around, has produced a few videos of his replication of the Hamel Spinner, a design that John Bedini expands and explains in the most recent installment of Tom Bearden's series: Energy from the Vacuum.
While the present version he demonstrates does not show acceleration from magnet power alone, it does show maintained rotation to the point that the rate of deceleration is far slower than would be manifest without some kind of rotation assist.

I'm confused. First it is dropped in, imparting energy to it so that it spins for a while then stops. Then it is spun it by hand and it spins for a while then stops. The energy to make the forces of gravity and magnetism out of balance enough for the device to move comes from the person manipulating the magnet/bearing. There are desktop toys that oscillate for longer than this with minimal force input. What is this proving exactly?

I can't see the point of this, the magentic fields are not in flux so it won't carry on spinning, what a supprise. It's just trying to face up but not being perfectly in the middle causes it to tilt then roll sideways...

in hammels theory the setup shouldnt be static but should oscillate as a part of a larger system four levels deep.

If this experiment proves anything it would be that conservation laws are accurate. The magnets slow down the initial linear motion of the falling ball and give it back as the spinning motion you can observe. If you hold the magnets with your hands it doesn't count because they can never be completely steady and that means you're continuously adding energy to the system. If the magnets support is steady, the ball will eventually come to a stop.

it will come to a standstill, so it's useless

Have you tried suspending the ring with a string so it can freely oscillate?

Are those diametric magnets? or is the marking just so we can easily see the rotation?

Love the music...
