They say the last 10% of a project takes 90% of the time. This project was no different. We thought we were close when the boats had their shape complete in wood. Little did we know.
It certainly wasn't anti-climactic. We've only been on the water twice now, but it has been great fun and challenging as well. Maybe this is only the beginning of the project.
Hope you've enjoyed our process as much as we.
how did u learn how to make it? is it just a hobby, or do u actually sell them?
Great video!!!

As with most things we eventually accomplish, we just dove in the deep end. We are woodworkers and had a good shop to work in so that helped a lot. It is just a hobby, though we have talked many times about the possibility of building these for a living. Even we look at others work and see the imagination and quality of work that seems to set the bar a bit too high. If I had to do this for a job, it wouldn't be the worst thing to earn a living with.

Could you give me the dimensions of your saw horses? I really like them.

I don't remember and they're now in storage. Seriously, I just slapped them together one morning using scrap 2X4s. I'm 6' tall and they are perfect for all aspects of working both the hull and the finished boat. Tracy is 5' 4" and they sit a bit high for her working the deck of the finished boats. Just look at where we stand in relation to them and build yours accordingly. At 2:50 Tracy is standing on a stool, 4:30 may give you some perspective.

Someone keeps putting a bunch of dam holes in your kayak. Really beautiful work.

I noticed that when they were always sinking. No worries, I taped them all over with duct tape. ;-)
