  • I agree with you, Devo are one of the most original bands from the U.S.'s early punk period but they hardly ever get mentioned in any 'punk histories' if at all. Yet look at them rock, as you said. Brilliant and not just doing the same old R'n'R thing.

Their lyrics were as 'punk' in attitude as any band, look at 'Social fools', it is up there with any Ramones or U.K Subs lyrics.

Top class music that deserves better and more recognition.

  • DEVO hardly ever gets any credit for being so kickass. Sad. I mean, just LOOK at them!

  • are we not men?? we are devo!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WE MUST REPEAT!

  • @myfukkinname I disagree, being around when this came out I know it was punks who were all fans and it sounded pretty punk in 78 when the LP came out as did their earlier 45. have you seen the B&W video of them? a very punk song.

Dont forget that punk was more diverse in the 70's than it is now, but whatever style, your right they were great.

  • @dortyhoor Not to take anything from DEVO, but they're not punk nor proto-punk...Ramones, Clash, even the Sex Pistols are 'punk'....that said, DEVO were fucking groundbreaking

  • @FuyuAkiWorld this song was first recorded in late 75 and released in 76 thats not 'post', check out their videos from before '77, they were playing 'punk' music before punk.

This was when they were touring Europe ('77/'78) promoting their first LP, again too early to be post anything.

  • @dortyhoor Well, they're more post-punk than punk.

  • Jerry knows that pants are for squares.
