@SteveAlbinisPussy I also remembered this show because I got burnt by some drunk dude's cigarette, and later found out that he was my advisor for a graduate level class I took a few months later. Small world. LA really is like Curb Your Enthusiasm. Whenever I go to LA, I run into people I know. How is this possible in such a huge city? I swear -- it's just like Curb Your Enthusiasm. Maybe I'll even run into Larry David some day...
@malby70 When I saw them in 93 or 94 (LA with Superchunk) it was a huge show at the Palladium, and whenever I mentioned I was going to see SC, people would say "Oh dude! Polvo's playing that show. They're gonna fucking blow your mind". Then at the show, people kept asking me if Polvo had played already. Methinks a lot of people came to see Polvo and left for SC (the density of the crowd indicated this). Polvo's set was perfect. Perfect sound too. I bought all their records the next day!
@grizzellor Don't feel bad -- I saw them once, and then missed some of their 96 shows in California because I was just starting my career and working my ass off. Methinks the Polvo will be around for some time -- perhaps not always active, but they are one of those bands that can reform and a shit load of people will go see them... I missed out on the new shows too. I just found out they have a new record. I have been uninterested in indie rock for some time, but Polvo always have my respect.
Funny, summer of 09 was the exact same for me. I saw MBV two days before these guys. I dunna though, as brilliant and mega-important as MBV is, Polvo is sososo fucking beautiful live. Best show I've ever been to.
ok, I got to see them in '97 in Austin and yes it was good. very very good. One of the best bands around at the time and there were like 50 people at the show! couldn't believe it.
Sono stati una scoperta eccezionale...veramente lodevoli, ho ascoltato Today's Active lifestyles e mi è piaciuto all'istante, anche se exploded drawing è di una genialità assoluta: grandi!!!

I could slit my wrists...I didn't even realize Polvo reunited until it were too late. Alas. There may be future Polvo shows to come?

I was at this show, and I'd have to place it in my top ten of all time. They played EVERYTHING I wanted to hear, and phenomenally to boot.
