To all of those people who like Gerry and hate Mike, or the other way around, I'd like to say that I wasn't trying to make either one look better by doing this. I was simply trying to do something different.

Actually its pretty sad and pathetic that Michael Crawford fans have to try and boost their guy up by this type of stunt... Gerry fans KNOW his genuine talent... I doubt you'd ever see Gerry's voice dubbed in a Crawford performance... no one who loves Gerry would EVER trade Gerry's body for anyone elses... he's perfect the way he is body, emotion, soul and voice!!!

Yes, I know that Gerard Butler is a VERY good Phantom and this was no "stunt."

I simply was trying to express creativity in the charactor, not the actors.

I'm truly sorry if I made you feel bad... I didnt know that it was a voice dubbed video before I watched it... otherwise I wouldnt have. I'm a "Gerry Purist", I guess you could say ;-)... and dont see the point of having ANYONE replace his perfect Phantom sexy voice.. the one thing this really did do though is make me even feel more strongly that his voice is superior and perfect for the movie version. In my opinion... :-)))

Yes, I do have the same opinion as you and I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get flustered. It's just that it took my a long time to make this and I was having a bad day when I replied. There's no need to apoligize. I see you're one of the more mature "Gerry Purists" around here. I bet anyone else would have replyed negativly to my responce. Thanks for that.

Gerry is the best movie Phantom and Crawford is the best stage Phantom. Let's just leave it at that. lol.

Good freaken grief!! Can the stage lovers just leave Gerard and the movie alone for heavens sake!!!!!! This even makes us MORE feel that Gerry has the better voice!!! His voice is much more sexy and emotional and real! And sorry if you dont like these comments but why in the hell did someone have to force Crawford on those of us who love Gerry and the Phantom movie??? You defeated your purpose... Gerry stands out even more after listening to this... sorry, but I dont like it like this!Gerry#1!

Well, I wasn't trying to boost anything with this video. I just wanted to see what it was like.

I would be the first one in line to cheer on Gerry, anyways. He's a REALLY good Phantom, and to others Michael Crawford is also a good Phantom.

I wasn't trying to promote Crawford in any way by making this. I am a fan of both of them and this is my way of expressing that.

Stop! Stop! Stop! Why does everyone keep dubbing the movie!?! It is the best scene ever and people keep ruining it! You can hardly find this song where Gerard Butler sing anymore! I don't want to see him sing with an opera singer's voice, and i don't want to see an opera singer with Gerard Butler's voice either!

The moral of the story is.......... if you are a true artist, you MUST. STOP. COMPARING.

If you have a PREFERENCE for a LEGITIMATE reason, fine! But don't say that one is wrong because it's not. I don't care for the Claude Rains version because the entire movie itself lacks depth and the romance between Erik and Christine was nearly non-existent. I also don't care for Claude Rains as an actor, but ya know what? ..... I just......don't ....watch....that version.......! O_O Novel idea, isn't it.

Secondly, as a theater major at one of the most respected theater depts in the nation, I understand: you cannot say that one version is wrong over another. They are DIFFERENT. Gerik has a different SOUL than Merik, who has a different soul from Charles Dance (1990) who has a different soul from Lon Chaney ('29), who is even different from the original Leroux Erik. None are wrong. They are simply different. I appreciate each Phantom for his intrinsic character. They each have different STORIES.

This is actually a very creative way of blending the two Phantom generations. Good job! Meanwhile, I LOVE Gerry. He has genuine talent, and if anyone thinks he can't sing or scoffs at him for not being a professional singer, I'd DEFY them to sing the ENTIRE score HALF as well as Gerry did!!!

@phantomphan5657 This IS Michael Crawford singing The Music of the Night in the Original Cast Recording. I have the CD. He ALSO sings the other version with the adjusted lyrics (which I prefer).  I think he sings this in such a low key because it is the key that ended the previous song.

this is not MC. ive got two reasones why:

(1) he does not say "turn your face away from the garish light of day" he says

"hearing is beleving music is deseving".

(2) his voice isn't as low as this one.

Thank you all people, who love Butler's voice!!! Gerry's Phantom made the image of Eriс very intriguing, powerful, and noble. And I accept only this Phantom, I hope there are a lot of people who agree...

ndd i saw dis version first(wit gerard singing of course) so i didnt wanna give michael a chance but i did now i find them both good but gerard will always be better in my opioion
